The 20-year-old striker follows a familiar route—Liam Delap made the same move two years ago, though his spell at Stoke brought just three goals from 22 Championship appearances. Mubama will be hoping for better returns and even to emulate or better Delap's subsequent career path.
Signed from West Ham for £2 million last summer, Mubama got a brief taste of first-team life at City. He scored on his senior debut in the FA Cup demolition of Salford, and came off the bench for the final 27 minutes in a 6–0 win away at Ipswich in the league.
But it was in Premier League 2 where he stood out. Mubama scored 10 and assisted four in nine league matches, then hit six more in four play-off games to help City lift the title.
Now at Stoke, he joins a side looking to push on under Mark Robins. Mubama was keen to complete the deal in time to take part in pre-season.
“Stoke’s a big club,” he said. “I’m here to work hard, score goals, and do my bit for the team. Getting in early gives me time to understand the manager and connect with the squad.”
Asked what fans can expect, he was clear: “I’ll press, fight for the ball, lead the line. I want to score, of course, but it’s also about energy and setting the tone from the front.”
This will be Mubama’s first extended run at senior level—a step that many at City will be watching closely.
