The 35-year-old right-back is expected to pen a two-year deal, bringing to an end his eight-year spell at City. He spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, where he featured regularly but wasn’t retained by the Italian giants.

News earlier today had linked Walker with a move to Fenerbahce.

Walker’s contract at City runs out next summer. Milan chose not to take up the option to buy, paving the way for Burnley to step in.

He made 15 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side before heading to Italy in January. Over nearly a decade at the Etihad, Walker collected 17 major trophies, including six league titles and the Champions League in 2023.

At Turf Moor, he’ll link up with head coach Scott Parker, a familiar face from his early Tottenham days. The pair played together during the 2011-13 seasons in north London.

Walker remains in Gareth Southgate’s thinking, having featured for England in June, earning his 96th cap in a 3–1 defeat against Senegal.

He becomes Burnley’s fifth addition of the summer. Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss, and Loum Tchaouna have already joined Parker’s squad as the Clarets prepare for life back in the top flight.
