Manchester City have secured the services of Lyon's highly-rated midfielder Rayan Cherki in a deal worth £30.5 million, with the 21-year-old France international committing his future to the Etihad until 2030.

The versatile playmaker arrives in Manchester following a stellar campaign in Ligue 1, where he registered an impressive 32 goal contributions across 40 outings for Lyon. Cherki's 12 strikes and 20 assists marked him out as one of Europe's most promising creative talents.

Fresh from his international breakthrough last week, where he marked his France debut with a goal despite Les Bleus' defeat to Spain in the Nations League, Cherki represents another shrewd acquisition by Pep Guardiola's recruitment team.

The youngster's arrival forms part of City's ambitious summer rebuilding programme, joining fellow new signings Marcus Bettinelli, who completed his move from Chelsea today, and £31.3 million left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, who arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this week.

Speaking about his switch to the Etihad, Cherki expressed his delight at joining Guardiola's project: "This represents everything I've aspired to achieve. Becoming part of Manchester City's setup and taking this crucial step forward in my career feels extraordinarily meaningful.

"This moment is the culmination of years of dedication. Football is my passion, and I'm eager to continue my development under Pep and his exceptional coaching team here in Manchester.

"City's reputation speaks for itself – their sustained excellence over recent years is undeniable. I'm ready to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining that winning culture.

"I would only have departed Lyon for a venture I truly trusted, and everything about City demonstrates this is where I can elevate my performance whilst contributing to future triumphs. I'm excited to demonstrate my capabilities to the City faithful."
