Manchester City have finally confirmed the the capture of Tijjani Reijnders, with the Dutch midfielder penning a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old arrives from AC Milan following an impressive two-year spell in Serie A that culminated in him being crowned the division's outstanding midfielder for the 2024/25 campaign.

Reijnders will bring versatility to Pep Guardiola's squad, equally comfortable operating in advanced positions or sitting deeper to break up play. His technical ability combined with boundless energy made him a standout performer at San Siro.

The Amsterdam-born player began his professional journey with PEC Zwolle before establishing himself as a key figure at AZ Alkmaar. His breakthrough campaign in 2020/21 at the Eredivisie club set the foundation for what has become an increasingly impressive career trajectory.

International recognition followed swiftly, with Reijnders earning his Netherlands debut in 2023. He quickly became indispensable for Ronald Koeman's side, featuring in all six matches as the Oranje reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

The timing of his arrival couldn't be better, with Reijnders now eligible for selection when City compete in this summer's FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

His command of English has smoothed the transition, and the midfielder expressed genuine excitement about linking up with Guardiola.

"Joining Manchester City fills me with incredible excitement," Reijnders explained. "This club represents the pinnacle of world football - exceptional coaching, world-renowned teammates, and facilities that are second to none.

"Pep Guardiola's track record speaks volumes, and I'm determined to contribute to extending this remarkable period of success. The opportunity to test myself in the Premier League represents a personal ambition fulfilled.

"The Premier League has provided a stage for so many brilliant Dutch footballers throughout history, and I'm honoured to continue that tradition. I cannot wait to begin training, integrate with the squad, and demonstrate my capabilities to our supporters."
