Rayan Ait-Nouri has been quick to praise Erling Haaland after seemingly settling seamlessly into life at City during the group stages of the CWC campaign.
The 24-year-old Algerian, who arrived from Wolves for £31m late last month, caught the eye in his first start as City demolished Al Ain 6-0 in their Club World Cup group fixture in the early hours of Monday morning.
The left-back has offered a glimpse into his excitement about linking up with Haaland, a striker who has tormented the Premier League since arriving in English football two years ago.
"Playing alongside Erling is brilliant for me," Ait-Nouri explained. "Everyone knows he's exceptional - he makes football look effortless."
"Linking up with him and the rest of this squad is special. When City hit their stride, they're untouchable anywhere in the world."
"We were buzzing to get out there together. The lads produced a top performance in that first match. We stick to our principles - create chances, find the net regularly."
"Defending as a unit matters just as much. Six goals on the board does wonders for team spirit. Fingers crossed we maintain this momentum."
City's new full-back tormented Al Ain's defence with his pace and trickery down the left flank, cutting inside repeatedly to cause havoc in the final third at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Ait-Nouri executed exactly what Pep Guardiola is demanding from his game:
"The boss told me to express myself without overthinking," he revealed. "Get forward with the ball, deliver crosses into dangerous areas. I'm trying to follow his guidance to the letter. Hopefully that sets us up nicely for the knockout stages."
"He gave me complete freedom. Playing without that mental burden felt incredible."
Guardiola was visibly impressed by his new signing's contribution, praising the defender's versatility and intelligence.
"Outstanding performance," the Catalan said. "He adapted perfectly between a back four and back five. This wasn't his Premier League debut - he's got years of experience at this level behind him."
"His movement in advanced positions creates problems for opponents, but he can also drop deeper and operate in midfield pockets. Tactically very aware."
"Defensively solid and comfortable in possession. His decision-making in attacking areas opens up space for teammates. Thoroughly pleased with what I saw."
